"There is No Turning Back" from the Future of Online Campaigning

An article in the Malaysian Insider shows the power and influence of online campaigning, social networking and social media. This example takes place in Malaysia, where the use of online resources bypasses traditional media in order to get a message across. The Malaysian Insider - December 27th.

“According to National University of Singapore new media academic Zhang Weiyu, the “carpenters” of Web 2.0 this year “included both political elites at the top and ordinary citizens at the bottom”, although it was the “top-down carpenters” who took centrestage, such as the Obama campaign.”

The key aspect for the MyCamp system will be to offer the tools for the “carpenters” to apply their trade.

Aside from the just the tools, other aspects need to be taken into account such as the campaign strategy, messaging (see previous post on storytelling) and execution when running a succesful online campaign.
