Online Campaigning a new way of communicating with the masses

It’s certainly not a new concept to realise that the Internet provides a unique channel to communicate with your audience, through a variety of ways. Politicians use it to spread their message and bypass the traditional media. Others use it as a tool to expose their opposition. It is a cheap, easy, convenient way of spreading a message. But only now are people starting to get it right. There has been a wave of interest over the success of the Obama campaign and his MyBo online campaigning tools and now a debate over how to transport this machine of an online community to the post-campaign stage.

This blog plans to look at and delve into the right strategies of how to simply do it right. It’s one thing getting the contact details (emails and mobile numbers) of people who want to get involved in a campaign. It is another thing knowing how to use it to maximise the campaign, spread the right messages and empower members. No doubt there will be cloned copycats of ideas and systems for campaigns, but there is a certain competitive advantage and way to approach the task that makes a difference and this is the issue that needs to be explored.
