At Last…Voting for Primary Elections Online

It seems to have taken along time, but finally one of the Israeli parties are coming to their senses by offering primary election voting to their members online. Habayit Hayehudi (The Jewish Home) will decide its list of candidates for the 18th Knesset which will be voted on in a General Election on 10 February 2009. The public, if they are not already members of another party, can register online with their ID number and cast their vote.

jewish-home-home-pageWhether or not they have the capacity or time to set up conventional primaries is another question, the fact is they are offering the public a new, easier way to vote and this should be encouraged and adopted by all parties in the future. Imagine being able to vote in two minutes from your computer. The MyCamp system will definitely have the functionality to create this type of opportunity, which encourages more voters and enhances the democratic procedure.

What about another “revolutionary” idea, voting via an SMS message?
